I’m making great progress on the third crime novel in the Detective Sanchez/Father Montero series. I started working off of an outline I prepared two years ago, but as I wrote the story I had other ideas that seemed to lend themselves to the storyline better. One of the things I noticed in the outline was that the plot was incredible complex, because there were really two major storylines that caused confusion about the plot and the theme of the book. I decided to disentangle portions of the story and may save them for another story later.

Without giving anything away I can say that the story involves gangs and drugs, but this time the drugs are prescription medicines that nefarious people have an interest in. Think about this: Americans spent approximately $158 billion on alcohol in 2017. Americans spent approximately $150 billion on illegal drugs in 2016. Americans spent about $329 billion on prescription drugs in 2016.

Now if you were a criminal enterprise and you were looking for a growth industry where would you be likely to expand your business into. Right. The prescription drug market if you could find a way to participate in it and make outrageous amounts of money. That is the premise of this novel.

Our old friends Detective Lori Sanchez and Father Guillermo Montero find themselves in the middle of a complex series of murders, drugs, thefts, and other mayhem in sunny Phoenix again.

I don’t want to say too much so I’ll call it there and hope you read the next book in the series. It will be on eBook, paper and KU.
